Attitudes to mental ill-health 2011: Stigma and discrimination

This month the NHS published findings from a survey of attitudes towards mental illness among adults in England. Although the report suggests that some attitudes towards mental health have improved, there is still evidence that prejudice continues to be prevalent.

Alarmingly, one in six people believe that one of the main causes of mental illness is lack of self-discipline and will-power. Our work aimed at educating the public and raising the awareness of mental health is as vital as ever.

Hang On

Each one of us on this earth has it. The ablility to lead …… and inspire. Sometimes our work feels small & insignificant. But remember, a small ripple can gain momentum…and build a current that is insurmountable.
Begin with one small step. Don’t let others stand in your way. Walk your own path,
Some may laugh, So what. Many will follow. Don’t ever give up.
Success …………. Seems to be largely a matter of HANGING ON after others let go – William Feather

Perfect

I know for a fact it has been a trying year or two for many of us and I also know that when times are hard for prolonged periods you begin to doubt yourself – so it is in this vein that I offer you the following Pink lyrics :

Oh, pretty pretty please, don’t you ever ever feel
Like you’re less than f*ckin’ perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel like you’re nothing
You’re f*ckin’ perfect to me

We are already enough and yes we can always be more – Happy Festive Season!
